Off my Book Shelf

Here is a post about Erica’s favorite books!

I have always loved to read. It was something my parents taught me. As a child I looked forward to visiting my local library and bookstore quite frequently. I especially looked forward to all the book fairs that were held at my elementary school and receiving Scholastic Book Flyers that the teacher gave to the class. Throughout the years I have filled my bookshelves with stories that  have fueled my imagination and taught me lifelong lessons that school can sometimes not teach. Whether it was the consequences of bullying in Stephen King’s Carrie, the importance of having courage in Lee Harper’s To Kill A Mockingbird, or friendship in Ann M. Martins The Babysitter’s Club, books have made me who I am today. Along the way they have taught me lifelong skills that are valuable in any career I pursue; empathy for others, critical thinking, and most importantly, creativity.
