“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
Robert Kennedy
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police … yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home — all the more powerful because forbidden — terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
Winston Churchill
Excellent quotes.

I appreciate all of these quotations you chose, but Churchill’s “little mouse of a thought” is the one that really resonates with me.

I find Churchill’s quote especially insightful. I keep reminding people how frightened that orange troll is to keep doing and saying what he does, but most people simply do not understand. He is a scared little bully who doesn’t understand that people can (and will) say “No!” to him.

Thank you for these quotes, Charles. Regarding the third one, I’ve been wondering why there aren’t protest marches going on across the country demanding release of the truth, demanding justice to those who are obstructing. I’m very afraid for this country right now…. Back in my day we’d be demonstrating in Washington DC and elsewhere. ☮️
