Thank you! After realizing today that my ms isn’t working and I need to start over almost from scratch, these are words I need to hear (while drinking a large glass of wine).

Great advice. I’m stumbling about now. Have lots of nice titles and while I’m working, I think of great story lines, or passages. But, lately, when I go to write, it’s ‘blah, blah, blah’. But, I’ll keep at it. 👍

And just keep going, without worrying about how good it is. Just get it down.

First draft ‘blah, blah, blah, blah’ are our raw materials to shape into some meaningful and beautiful. And many times when you go back to your raw materials, lo and behold, there will be a little gold nugget winking and shining at you, just waiting to be picked up.

Yes, and sometimes that little nugget can be polished and developed into a true work of art!

Excellent comment. And so true. That’s the challenge, to find the nugget. Thank you!

Good timing for me to see this post come across my email, as it immediately followed a rejection email I found condescending and insulting (from a publication that shall remain nameless). Thanks for the encouragement (and for not being condescending and insulting).

Have no fear! The best cure for a hurtful rejection is to just keep on writing.

And someday, maybe, you won’t suck. Maybe.
I guess my goal is to just not suck.
If someday someone says to me, Hey Mole, this doesn’t suck, I’ll be happy.
