How Are You Doing With Your WIP?

Standard

Yes!

I have reached my first writing goal for this month! I am now halfway through the 2nd draft of the third book in the Investigative Paranormal Society series! My next goal is to finish this draft by the end of the month. My long-term goal for this book is to release it around Halloween!

Next month I will do the 2nd draft of my political thriller, then the 2nd draft of a Historical Romance–yes, you heard that correctly–and then I will begin my next 1st draft.

So, I ask all of you: what is the status of your Work In Progress?

  1. Congratulations on hitting your goal! That’s awesome to hear! Prepping for mine (and by prepping, starting Word docs with an intention sentence). I’m using the July NaNoWriMo camp to finally finish a short story collection I’ve been working on for years.

  2. Congratulations on your progress! Let’s see. I’m about three-quarters through the first draft of my third novel after 6 months. Could do better, although my first drafts are pretty ‘clean’. Onward and upward…

  3. Wow! You’ve been very productive. My progress is on a much, much smaller scale. My WIP is set in a building that I’ve only seen from the outside, and it burned to the ground in 1978. I’ve written the first few chapters, but without knowing exactly where all the rooms are, I can only get so far. There is a primary resource that would have the information, but it’s only in hard copy and inaccessible because of COVID. I finally had the idea to check newspapers.com for articles about when the building was built in 1913. Sure enough, jackpot! Right down to the coal furnace. I’m happy with small victories!

  4. Goodness me. How do you manage to remain focused while working on two books at once? I’ve just finished editing my crime novel Stone Angels. I’m now being a new novel. It’s a follow on from my crime novella published in February.

  5. Congratulations!!! Keep it up!! Success is the accumulation of many small efforts.
I’m doing good on my current children’s book: I’m creating the illustrations and serially posting them on Instagram and summarizing each weeks work each Monday on my blog. It helps me to have weekly deadlines and I enjoy hearing from my readers.
I wish you all the best. And thanks for sharing…
