  1. Congrats and nice article! On my list to purchase, as, well, I’m horrible at whipping out a first draft overall – – First draft of article, chapter, etc.? Yup – have even invested in tools to help me to ‘write like the wind, save and have in easy format to switch sections from here to there, etc.” but I am stuck in the incongruent worlds of ‘love to write’, ‘write as my brain dictates’ – okay – done with that whirlwhind – but, why not go back through and do the edit? Right now? Why not fix grammar, spelling and see which pieces really are a tangent and need their own section/chapter/series of posts, etc. And then once I’ve done that – I’m REALLY tired and don’t touch anything for another day/week and when I come back to it, I realize….Sigh – even outline discipline – even software tools that support my ‘natural’ tendencies but save me work later, NONE of it has happened, thus, thanks, even before I purchase the book – – thinking I’ll ask a long time bloggy pal/self-published writer to be my ‘accountability’ partner and that I have to send a draft to anytime I write – MAYBE just MAYBE, that will break my ‘bad habits’ or get me trained in new ones! Thank you! And congrats on your published book AND the article! BTW – I struggle some, since my stroke with spelling and for the life of me cannot see why incongruent is showing up misspelled. LOL

  2. Congrats, Charles. I’m an edit-as-I-go writer, though I’ve heard (and believe) that writing a first draft without stopping and revising is a faster way to get a book through that most difficult draft. I’m about half way through my current WIP. I may experiment for the second half and see how it goes. 🙂
